Scottsdale Timeshare!

We had a great time at our timeshare in Scottsdale. I celebrated my birthday as you can see from the pictures. I was a little sad to come back home (where I couldn't have the air conditioning set at 72 degrees), but Brett reminded me that pretty soon Katie would be back and I would have the best present of all...our whole family home and safe together. He knew just what to say!

The foot saga continues...

Funny how after almost 8 years my foot started having problems with the hardware inside. Last Thursday my ankle once again popped out (broken blood vessel?) instantaneously. It was bizarre. The next day the doctor determined that it was time to get the stuff out. So, I had surgery on Monday, July 14th. I still have the 2 longer screws in the other side which he wanted to keep in for stability. (See previous blog for picture) He said the bone has holes where all the screws were and they will fill in eventually in about a year. I have been a good patient, keeping my foot elevated for the last 2 days. The incision was closed with glue so I get to shower as normal today. I'm still in a fair amount of pain, but the codeine med helps. It's actually been kind of nice to have a reason to be lazy and veg. And I have a handsome male nurse who is taking good care of me. :) (Thanks Jeff!)

Brett's Summer " Trip" ?

Brett left for football camp (in Eager, AZ) this morning. He humored me and let me take this picture (at home of course), with the promise that we wouldn't hang around waiting for the bus to drive off. As promised we dutifully gave quick hugs and left without any fuss. For his part he vowed to not get sunburned like last year! It is weird though. Jeff and I will get a preview of what the "empty nest" feels like. It's a good thing we still like each other after all these years! :)

So cool!

Today I had an appt. with the doc who fixed my ankle after I broke it on October 19, 1999. It is so crazy now that xrays are simply downloaded on a cd. This is so cool to see and I am amazed that I have full range and use of my ankle thanks to Dr. Tani.

Long overdue!

Well, here is proof that I am one of the worst (best) procrastinators! We moved into our home (new at the time) almost 21 years ago. We had NEVER had the outside painted. Granted, you would be surprised because up until a year or so ago, it still looked pretty good. But we have wanted to do it for a LONG time and just kept putting it off for a variety of reasons. I think mainly I was afraid to take the plunge because I just didn't know (or trust) who to go with. After visiting Marty and Steph and admiring their house/new paint job, we were ready to "go for it". We are very happy with the results! Yeah! What can I get done next???

Aaron's turn...

Well, it is now Aaron's turn for a trip. Our 3rd time this summer to drop a kid curbside at the airport. He is going to NC to stay with our friends Rocky and Debbie. He is looking forward to spending time with their family. He will help out at Rocky's baseball camp which he did last year as well. He also plans to take 3 days to travel around NC and SC to see some interesting sights. He'll be gone for 11 days which will be a nice change for him since he's been getting real bored not working. Aah, the life of a school teacher. We all feel so sorry for him, NOT!

HAPPY 4TH OF JULY TO EVERYONE!

Katie's Novel

Katie is now at the school in Lyon, France. She has posted a "novel" on her blog which you can get to by clicking on her link at the top right of my blog. She's had some great and not so great experiences so far (mostly great). I will let her do the telling so check it out if you like. It was wonderful for me to be able to hear about her trip so far. We have only been able to communicate with a few texts until today. Seems like she is adapting well. Lucky her to be out of all this heat. Wow it has been hot! KEEP COOL if you can!
